Architectural
The interplay between architectural form and organic matter fascinates me. Metaphorical themes, such as the transformative effect of making that often life-altering decision to “let light in” or “open up wide” have guided my paintbrush and led me towards possibilities I personally needed to consider at the time.
Pondering the way that light can be so insistent, uplifting and transformative, guiding the way through darkness or confusion, softening and resculpting the edges of all the apparently solid and immutable forms that tend to hold us in or block the way, whilst I painted these themes because they called to me, has often informed my own life and changed my way of thinking during the very painting process and even after I put the artwork on my wall; perhaps likewise holding such messages, nudges and clues for the viewer.
