Architecture in paint – windows, pathways and Venetian canals

by Helen White in Exhibitions

With a Private View taking place on Saturday 8th June between 11am and 1pm, the Summer Exhibition at Gallery Fifty Five is set to be a diverse affair, with my own contribution focussing on the architectural themes to be found in some of my work.

My subjects in this exhibition include light coming through a window (several paintings on this theme) and light through washing on the line, light leading the way along a Venetian canal, light at the end of a tunnel and light-dappled flowers bordering a garden path…and so I suppose you could say that my architectural subjects are no great diversion away from my usual fascination with painting light, yet there was a certain satisfaction for me in drawing together some of my work on a slightly different theme to the usual landscapes and it will be wonderful to see them all hanging together. As well as original oils, there will be a selection of Giclee prints available.

So if you are reading this, do consider this your invitation to the Private View and – if that doesn’t fit in your diary – the exhibition continues until late September.
